The Short Version: GameTime is built with privacy first. Your screen time and usage data never leave your device. GameTime uses the internet only to show ads, and they don’t affect how the app works.
1. Introduction
Welcome to GameTime (“we”, “our” or “us”). We respect your privacy and want to be clear about how the app handles your data.
2. No Data Collection or Cloud Storage
Your usage data is processed entirely on your device, so:
We don’t own, rent or run servers that store your usage data.
We don’t send your screen time stats, app lists or habits over the internet.
We don’t collect personal identifiers like your name, email address, IP address or location.
3. How Your Data Is Processed
GameTime needs certain permissions (Usage Access and an Accessibility Service) only to track your screen time and show it to you in the app. Your limits, groups, PIN and preferences are saved in the app’s local storage on your phone.
Usage access: lets Android tell the app how long each app was open.
Accessibility service: only detects which app just opened so a limit can be enforced. It doesn’t read text, messages, passwords or anything else on your screen.
Display over other apps: shows the block screen when a limit is reached.
Internet: only used to load ads.
Notifications and foreground service: keeps the monitor running and shows its status.
4. Internet Use and Ads
GameTime uses the internet only to show ads. The ads don’t affect how the app works. We don’t share your screen time, app list or settings with the ad service.
Ads are provided by a third-party ad service, which may collect certain device information, such as your advertising ID and IP address, under its own privacy policy. You can reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalized ads in your Android settings.
5. Data Control and Deletion
Your data is yours at all times:
Clearing data: clear the app’s storage any time in your device’s System Settings.
Uninstalling: deleting GameTime removes everything the app has saved.
Permissions: you can revoke any permission in Android settings. Some features will stop working without them.
6. Children’s Privacy
GameTime isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. The ad service described above may collect device identifiers under its own policy.
7. Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, we’ll update the “Effective Date” at the top. Our core commitment, that your screen time data stays on your device, won’t change.
